About this site

This site strives to be a source of information with regular updates on climate change lawsuits around the world. From cases grounded in human rights claims to straightforward tort suits, litigation relating to the climate crisis has grown substantially in recent years. And as the crisis continues and worsens, climate litigation is likely to rise as people increasingly seek relief through the courts. The trend has already begun, with over 1,500 cases filed in 38 countries as of July 2020. While this site will in no way be keeping track of all of these cases, it will be following some of them.

More comprehensive information including databases of climate cases and other relevant sources and news reporting can be found under Resources. The Climate Case Tracker offers some background on select cases. But mostly this site is meant to provide updates and analyses on climate-related cases going forward.
